A simple to use video & audio camera. It has three modes, video with/without audio (depending on your settings), camera (snap shot) and audio (dictaphone type use) I have no use for the latter two personally.

Includes a strong windscreen mount; take other’s advice on where mounted, i.e. out of the way of the driver and within the sweep of the windscreen wipers. The camera can hang back off the mount a wee bit so play around until you are happy (Passenger side of the rear view mirror or bottom right corner on the driver’s side suited me). There is also a cigar charger (micro USB) that has about 3.5 metres of cable, so you can work it around the dash & windscreen.

The instructions are okay, but a few minutes playing around and you’ll work it all out. Simple on/off button and a record/stop button on the back edge. On the LCD panel are Mode switches from video (default at start up) to picture to dictaphone to playback screen. Each mode (less dictaphone) has its own menu / settings (using Menu, Up and Down and record/stop as the “OK”). Like I said, play around to get used to it.

I put a 32GB Class 10 SD card into mine. The class of SD card is important, Class 4 for example is no good for quality video writing, (and this may be where other reviewers have gone wrong – stating they were not satisfied with quality) (I also notice a class 4 is offered by Amazon as part of a bundle!!!!) Class 10 has good read / write speed for video use, so choose your SD card with care.

I have mine set to 1280×720 [HD], which provides 6.5 hours of continuous video with audio recording on a 32GB card. On play back, both on the inbuilt LCD and home PC, I was pleased with the quality offered by this camera (for the price that I paid for it).

This is a good little device to record your journey, for whatever reason, be it a video log of your road trip or just to keep it running for peace of mind when you’re on the move; should you unfortunately have an incident, where this video camera will back you up (so long as it is pointed in the right direction).

Wasn’t expecting much but this little camera is brilliant. Playback on the built in screen is ok but when downloaded to PC it is far better than I expected. Having recently been involved in an accident where the other party admitted fault at the time of the accident but changed their story when it came to submitting a claim, I bought this to ensure I had proof of actual events in future. Whilst it isn’t always possible to make out number plates – I’d say up to ten feet in front maximum – there shouldn’t be a problem being able to clearly identify any vehicles involved in an accident.

The camera records sound so you can add a running commentary or record car registration numbers. There is a built in battery and a very long power cable that will easily go from the centre console, under the dash, up the side of the windscreen and to your camera if you have it mounted near the rear view mirror. It’s a shame the camera has to be unscrewed from the windscreen mount as it means you have to remove the holder from the screen each time you want to take the camera down.

The only thing you have to watch out for is the angle you set the camera at in relation to the windscreen. Having it as close to a right angle with the screen as you can get will give best results. I’d try a few places and see which gives the clearest results for you. Dont forget to position it within the sweep of the windscreen wipers too.

To summarise I’d say this is a great piece of kit and well worth its cost. It could save you an awful lot of money if someone tries it on as they did with me.

    £14 for a dash cam, bargain :-) UPDATE Jan 2014!, 6 Jun 2013
    By

This review is from: Super Legend HD Video Car Dash Vehicle Recorder (Electronics)

    Firstly, I read Paul Walters review, looked at his YouTube videos and bought one. And also posted my own videos on YouTube;
Search for “Isle of Wight Amazon HD Dash Cam night drive” and “Isle of Wight Amazon HD Dash Cam day drive” by Mk3stargazer.
It came quick, charged it up for 12 hours, (it is something I always do with rechargeable batteries, so you may not bother, up to you) then I started to play with it.
Now, I must point out that my suction mount was broken, right out of the box, I can not use it, So I made my own mount using an old rear view mirror stem. The suction cup mount is very flimsy, probably made out of old washing up liquid containers during a Blue Peter moment. There is no way for me to email the seller, and I am not returning the whole lot for a refund just to buy another one as the seller does not do exchanges, he only does refunds. I have photos in my videos so you can see my mount so you can also hard mount your own too. This makes it harder to steal, and if mounted up by the rear view mirror it blends in and does not attract people who normally look out for a big round sticky mount on the screen to break the window and steal a sat nav etc. You can make your own hard mount easily, go to scrap yard/ebay and buy a stick on rear view mirror from an older car that is similar to mine, remove the mirror (usually a ball and socket) drill through the ball (usually alloy) and use a camera tripod threaded bolt and secure it with a nut, get the angle right, tighten it, go to your local garage, buy a “Green to the screen” sticky pad (50p) and clean the screen, stick it on. I have read that the camera is preferred to be mounted high up yet angled slightly down, this is like any digital camera pointing towards the bright sky, the sky will not show up blue, it will be bright, almost a white out, until you get in the shade. I mounted it how I wanted it, we do not get much sun in the UK now so all should be good!
I would also like to point out that this camera WILL NOT turn you in to the next Steven Spielberg.
Do not buy this camera if you fancy doing a blog, or want to film you and your mates racing up and down the street or doing donuts in the car park as a good mobile phone has better quality footage. I am used to good quality HD cameras like the Drift HD & GoPro so I was not expecting much for £14, BUT….. £14 for a dash cam, that starts and stops when you do, records sounds, and is pretty good at night under street lit areas/shopping centres etc. but not much use in unlit country roads, remember, it is only £14…..
The IR (infra red) is used at night, I am used to IR wildlife trail cameras that sit on a tree in the pitch dark in woodland and can record animals moving around so I was not expecting much for the price, but generally it is ok. I have filmed my dog in the garden with it at night, can only see her when you get about 3 feet away (in my night video) and driving in town is pretty good, less so on unlit country roads.
The motion sensor is pretty much useless unless you wave your hand directly in front of it, I actually managed to drive along for a fair distance before the camera triggered, so I would say that if you were sat in a traffic jam it would stop recording, then when somebody drives in to you it will not be caught on film.
If you have to park in a rough area, you can switch on manually and hit record, not sure yet how long the internal battery would last, but I went inside for a cuppa, and went back out and still recording, so this is ideal if you want to do a bit of shopping and worried someone may hit you or scratch your car, BUT only as long as they do it within camera view….
Once you have read the instructions, which are nicely but loosely translated to English, you set the camera up.
Attach it to the screen, run the lead around the screen rubber and down behind the dash (it is very long…) plug it in to the Cigar lighter, it automatically converts to a 5v power output, but this cheap convertor makes the radio crackle (testing it in my above videos) I did read that some people had problems with Sat Nav interference but have not tested that yet.
But by using a standard USB lead, with a £1 ebay cigar lighter USB port, there is no interference, but it looks unsightly as the wire is too short to go neatly around the dash, I will see if I can get a longer one made up/bought as the lead which comes with the camera obviously does not have anything in it to stop electrical interference.
You can then go for a drive ;-)
As I said, do not buy one if you just want footage to upload to YouTube as it is not true HD.
I used a 4GB Sandisk Class 4 SD card on FHD setting which is Full HD, and also used a 32GB Sandisk extreme Class 10 SD Card on HD setting and the footage quality was the same. It seems almost jerky around the edge, almost like a slow PC playing a big video file, but flows nicely in the middle of the…

I was looking for a small HD action camera. Most other brands and models in Switzerland are 3 to 5 times more expensive. This Action Camera is low cost, but has very good HD Image. It comes with many accessories and is very simple to use. When connected in the car to the cigaret lighter it switches automatically On and Off, when starting the engine. The integrated Image stabilizer gives a steady image even on bumpy roads. I recommend it to anybody who needs a small sports action camera. The Quality to Price ratio is excellent.

I have to say that I was a little sceptical about ordering this product but being on Amazon I trusted them and I decided to give it a go. Wow, definitely not disappointed. The item turned up within 4 days of ordering it, neatly packaged in a box that looks and feels good quality. Opening it up there is a mass of different mountings for bike, helmets, car windows, arm bands and so on, but there is a fairly comprehensive instruction sheet on which mount is for what type of fixing, so pretty good there.
The Camera itself it pretty compact and feels like it is built well, and fits well in to the inclusive water proof case, and looks the part too. I immediately charged the battery up ready for a good “fiddle”.
Once charged up I found it really very easy to navigate through set-up and options for the Cam, which is good as the instructions aren’t overly comprehensive. Picture quality is really, really good, only tried 1080P so far, but with the 32GB SD card I bought separately it tells me I’ll get three hours of HD recording, more than enough for any adventure I would have thought :-)
I have yet to play around with the exposure settings as low light recordings were OK but had a pink hue to them, to be honest though this will be used in the open in daylight, for which the recorded picture is superb. If you have an up to date TV that accepts SD cards you can plug it straight in and view what you have recorded as soon as you hit the stop record button, pretty neat if you are impatient to see the results, picture quality was great too, steady image and not at all jerky.
A couple of things that could make this product even better are.
    > A carry strap loop on the Camera when it’s “naked” and not in its waterproof case
    > A carry strap loop on the Waterproof Case, could also be used to attach a safety lanyard in case any mounting fails, especially if you are using this surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, kayaking etc.
When all said, great little product, loads of accessories, good price and whilst it’s not a Go-Pro it is a real alternative if you are on a tight budget.
Time will tell how robust this little Cam is, but so far all indications are very good :-)
